Whats a Postpartum Doula
A Postpartum Doula is a support person for not only mother/ parent and new baby but for the family as well from the first few days, weeks and months after bring how a new baby. A Postpartum Doula also provides unbiased educated and evidence information so the mother can make an informed decision on what is in the best interest of herself and her baby. A Postpartum Doula can help to facilitate communication between the mother and her care provider and work as an advocate. They look after the newborn so that mom/parents can rest, replenish and recharge knowing that their bundle of joy is safe and cared for. Research shows that moms, dads, and babies have an easier time with this transition if a good support team is in place.
A Postpartum Doula also provides support with: infant feeding, burping, emotional and physical recovery from birth, and mother-baby bonding. Laundry, dishes, housework, cooking, errands (discuss in the contract). "Essentially, we mother the new mother, nurturing her so she can nurture her precious new baby"

WHAT POSTPARTUM DOULAS DO
With the many services offered by a Postpartum Doula one of the most important is to help “mother the mother” and nurture the entire family as they transition into life with a newborn. Postpartum Doulas help provide the tools for parents to feel more confident in their roles, sharing education on family adjustment, and tending to the unique needs of a new mother. While doing so the Postpartum Doula respects the parenting style of the family, provides opportunities for the mother to ask questions or express concerns, and provides encouragement.
A Postpartum Doula works with each family individually to find out their particular needs.
